TRC Manga Summaries

Here are the summaries written at the back of each volume. These summaries are actually from the back cover itself. They are from the English version of the Tsubasa, RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE manga published by Del Ray.

Volume 1: Sakura and Syaoran return! But they're not the people you know. Sakura is the princess of Clow--a possessor of a mysterious, misunderstood power that promises to change the world. Syaoran is her childhood friend and leader of the archaeological dig that took his father's life. They reside in an alternate reality...where whatever you least expect can happen--and does. When Sakura ventures to the dig site to declare her love for Syaoran, a puzzling symbol is uncovered--which triggers a remarkable quest. Now Syaoran embarks upon a desperate journey through other worlds--all in the name of saving Sakura.

Volume 2: Syaoran, Fai, Kurogane, and Mokona venture to the Hanshin Republic to find one of the missing pieces of Sakura's memory, transformed into magically powerful feathers. There, Syaoran meets his "Kudan," a fierce wolf-spirit whose fiery power mirrors Syaorans's personal strength. But with foes like a pop idol who sings words of peon, Syaoran's hunt for feathers is no child's game! And even if he finds the feathers, will Sakura ever wake up from her magical sleep? And since Syaoran bargained away their relationship in a pact with a witch, can their love ever return to the way it was?

Volume 3: Sakura is awake, but she remembers almost nothing--certainly not Syaoran, who has sacrificed everything to help her. Accompanied by the  happy-go-lucky Fai, the intense Kurogane, and the strikingly odd creature Mokona Modoki, Sakura and Syaoran make their way into a new universe where a traveling magician has suddenly became frighteningly powerful and is terrorizing an entire town. Only a few independent-minded stragglers remain to battle for control of their own lives. Fai, the lone magician in the group, traded his magical powers to the dimension witch, xxxHOLiC's Yuko, before the journey started.  Without a weapon with which to fight, can the extraordinary group of friends defeat a master magician who can control the Earth's elements?

Volume 4: Young Syaoran embarks on a would-spanning adventure to restore the memory of the most important person in his life, the princess Sakura---even though he knows that she'll never remember her love for him. The trail leads to a small town reminiscent of Europe at the turn of the nineteenth century, a place where the ghostly image of a golden-haired woman comes in the night to steal the town's children. Syaoran and his band of outrageous friends--affable Fai D. Flowright, loose cannon Kurogane, the odd creature Mokona, and Sakura herself--mount their horses and venture into forbidding, barren woods to solve a mystery, rescue the children, and retrieve one more piece of Sakura's missing memories.

Volume 5: Following the trail of the stolen children of Spirit Town, Sakura is captured at the forbidden castle, where she encounters the golden-haired ghost! Syaoran and his friends--the sociable magicinan Fai D. Flowright, the master swordsman Kurogane, and the odd creature Mokona--must now penetrate the ancient stronghold in order to rescue Sakura and the missing children. Will they finally uncover the truth of the legend of Princess Emerald? And will they recover another fragment of Sakura's lost memory?

Volume 6: Syaoran, Sakura, and their companions travel to Oto, a country where cherry blossoms perfume the days and demons called Oni terrorize the nights.
To earn funds, the foursome split up to hunt the wicked creatures. Soon they learn that a new type of Oni has appeared - one that is both mysterious and beautiful... and rumored to control the other demons! Will the brave twosome of Big Puppy (Kurogane) and Little Puppy (Syaoran) save the land of Oto from this frightening foe - and retrieve another piece of Sakura's fragmented past?

Volume 7: Young Syaoran and his friends are on a quest to retrieve the magically potent feather-shaped shards of Princess Sakura's memory. The search has led them to the country of Oto, a world with the romantic feel of Japan in the early 1900s. However, another dimension traveler has shown up as well - the immensely powerful Seishiro, who first trained Syaoran. Now he and Syaoran are mortal enemies! Seishiro's first objective is to kill Fai, beloved wizard and one of Syaoran's closest companions. Does Syaoran, who is just beginning his training, have any hope of surviving their inevitable battle?

Volume 8: Princess Sakura's memories are scattered across multiple dimensions - and now she and Syaoran are part of an unlikely group of friends traveling from world to world to find them. Unfortunately, the memories have been transformed into immensely powerful magical feathers, and those who possess them are seldom willing to give them up without a fight. The quest takes Syaoran's odd bunch to a jungle world where helpless creatures are being terrorized by a sacrifice-demanding beast. When Syaoran, Mokona, and Sakura are separated from Fai and Kurogane, each group finds themselves on opposing sides of a conflict that threatens to destroy the future of a troupe of young women performers... and possibly the entire world!

Volume 9: Five friends continue their desperate search for Princess Sakura's memories, which have been scattered across parallel worlds in the form of magically potent feathers. But this time Syaoran and Sakura are pulled from a tumultuous land where two factions battle over a statue of the God of Calamity - and into the realm of that very divinty! Now they find themselves on one side of a long, bloody conflict between two gods and their minions. Unfortunately, the experienced fighters in their band, Fai and Kurogane, seem to be aligned with the opposition. In a war where the only ending is the death of a god, how can Syaoran and Sakura hope to stay alive?

Volume 10: The godlike being Ashura-O has killed the equally skilled and mighty Yasha-O. But now Asura-O seems depressed. What this means to the country of Shura, none can tell... especially the five friends on a desperate journey through many dimensions to find the memories of Princess Sakura - memories in the form of immensely powerful feathers. They've been racing from world to world, separated only to be reunited as enemies. Now young Syaoran is at the center of the maelstrom - and only wits, luck, and some help from his friends will save the tiny band from destruction.

Volume 11: The Dragonfly Race is set to begin in Piffle World, and the prize for one lucky lightweight aircraft pilot is an amazingly powerful battery in the shape of a feather. But for the four dimension-travelers, and one odd creature named Mokona, who have joined the competition, the feather represents more than energy - it's one of Princess Sakura's lost memories! And Sakura's feather isn't the only thing at stake. Despite President Tomoyo’s best efforts to protect the race using her wealth and resources, unexpected hazards keep popping up, and the perilous contest could lead to death for unskilled pilots... like the princess!
